Surface-mounted cabinets cannot project more than 4" from the wall when mounted between 27" and 80" AFF. Recessed and semi-recessed cabinets solve this by sitting flush or near-flush with the wall surface.

Do I need to schedule annual inspections?

Yes. NFPA 10 requires monthly visual inspections (recordable on the tag) and a full annual inspection by a certified professional. Hydrostatic testing is required every 5 or 12 years depending on extinguisher type.
