About Emergency Eyewash Stations

Emergency eyewash stations are required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 wherever the eyes of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials. ANSI Z358.1 sets the product spec: 0.4 GPM minimum flow for 15 minutes at 60–100°F tepid water, located within 10 seconds / 55 ft of the hazard. We quote plumbed wall-mount and pedestal eyewash, gravity-fed portable units (15-minute capacity), and the thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) needed to deliver tepid water from a building's normal cold supply.

Emergency Eyewash Stations: common questions

Yes. ANSI Z358.1 requires water between 60°F and 100°F. Cold tap water can cause hypothermia or shock during a 15-minute flush; hot water can scald. A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is the standard solution and is required in nearly every plumbed installation.
