Division 10 CSI Codes: MasterFormat Section Numbers for Specialties
The MasterFormat section numbers architects and estimators use for Division 10 specialties, one section per code, with the products each one covers.
Division 10 of MasterFormat is titled Specialties. It is where toilet partitions, washroom accessories, fire extinguisher cabinets, lockers, and visual display boards are specified, which makes it the division most of this catalog lives in. Architects put these numbers on drawings and in the project manual, estimators sort bids by them, and submittals are filed under them. This page lists the sections we get asked about, what each one covers, and where the matching products are on this site.
How to read a MasterFormat number
A MasterFormat number is three pairs of digits, sometimes followed by a decimal. The first pair is the division: 10 is Specialties. The second pair narrows it to a group, so 10 28 00 is Toilet, Bath, and Laundry Accessories. The third pair names the section, so 10 28 13 is Toilet Accessories. A fourth level after the decimal splits a section by type: 10 28 13.13 is Commercial Toilet Accessories and 10 28 13.19 is Healthcare Toilet Accessories.
Older documents and file names write the same numbers without spaces, so 102813.13 and 10 28 13.13 are one section. The numbers and titles on this page come from the MasterFormat 2018 Edition, Master List of Numbers and Titles for the Construction Industry, published by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and Construction Specifications Canada. MasterFormat is a registered trademark of CSI. The master list leaves the fourth level open for specifiers and manufacturers to extend, so a manufacturer's spec sheet can carry a number that is not on the list; Bradley's accessory specifications, linked from its product pages here, use several.

10 28 13 Toilet Accessories
Almost everything on the washroom accessories hub is specified under 10 28 13 Toilet Accessories, within 10 28 00 Toilet, Bath, and Laundry Accessories. The fourth level sorts the section by setting:

Manufacturers file their guide specifications at different levels of the same section. Bobrick's guide specification, linked from its product pages here, is titled Section 10 28 00 Washroom Accessories. ASI's SpecLink documents carry 10 28 00 as well. Bradley's 3-part specifications use 10 28 13.13 for commercial accessories and 10 28 16 for bath accessories, and each Bradley product page links the one that applies. The master list has no separate section for baby changing stations; they are usually specified with the toilet accessories they hang beside, and Koala Kare's guide specification is linked from each KB300 product page.
10 28 16 Bath Accessories is the section for the shower accessories: folding shower seats, curtain rods, curtains, soap dishes, and towel bars. 10 28 26 Hygiene and Custodial Accessories is the master list's own number for the mop and broom holders and utility shelves, although Bobrick and ASI include those items in their 10 28 00 accessory specifications.
10 11 00 Visual Display Units
Markerboards and tackboards sit at the front of Division 10 under 10 11 00 Visual Display Units. 10 11 16 Markerboards covers the porcelain steel whiteboards and the glass dry-erase boards; a wall-mounted board is 10 11 16.13 Fixed Markerboards, and the list goes on to number modular-support-mounted, rail-mounted, portable, and electronic markerboards. 10 11 23 Tackboards covers the cork tackboards and bulletin boards, with 10 11 23.13 for fixed tackboards. Chalkboards are 10 11 13, sliding units 10 11 33, and display rails 10 11 39.
10 44 00 Fire Protection Specialties
Extinguishers and their cabinets are Division 10, not Division 21. 10 44 13 Fire Protection Cabinets covers the recessed, semi-recessed, and surface-mounted extinguisher cabinets, with 10 44 13.53 for security cabinets. 10 44 16 Fire Extinguishers covers the extinguishers themselves: 10 44 16.13 Portable Fire Extinguishers and 10 44 16.16 Wheeled Fire Extinguisher Units. Fire blankets are 10 44 19 and brackets and other accessories 10 44 43. Sprinkler systems are 21 13 00 Fire-Suppression Sprinkler Systems in Division 21, which is why the fire protection division quotes them separately. Next door in 10 43 00 Emergency Aid Specialties, 10 43 13 Defibrillator Cabinets and 10 43 16 First Aid Cabinets are the AED and first aid cabinets often scheduled beside extinguisher cabinets.

Paper, chemicals, and the other consumables on the janitorial pages are supplies rather than construction work, so they have no section here; the dispensers they feed are 10 28 13 accessories.
Putting the numbers on a submittal
Each product page on this site links the manufacturer's technical data sheet and, where the maker publishes one, its 3-part guide specification and BIM or CAD files, so the section number on the drawing and the document in the submittal match. Mounting heights for the accessories in 10 28 13 are on the ADA mounting heights chart, each with the rule quoted from the 2010 Standards.
When you send a quote request, list the section numbers with the model numbers and quantities. A schedule organized by section is the fastest to price, and it is how a whole Division 10 package, partitions and accessories and lockers and cabinets on one order, is put together. The Division 10 supplier page shows which of these sections we sell online and which we quote, and the Division 10 specialties list says what goes in each one.
