Bobrick B-287

The Bobrick B-287 is a surface-mounted folding utility shelf for toilet compartments and accessible stalls, a place to set a bag, package, or purse off the floor. It is type 304 stainless steel with a satin finish. The shelf is 14 1/2 in. long and 5 3/4 in. wide (370 x 145 mm) and supports 100 lbs (45.36 kg) when properly installed.

The shelf pulls down for use and returns to the upright position on its own when released. The rest of the time it sits flat against the partition or wall, out of the way. It installs on a toilet partition or on a wall with surface fasteners; no recess is cut into the wall. The self-closing action also keeps the compartment clear for a wheelchair user when the shelf is not in use.

Where the shelf sits in a circulation path with its leading edge 27 to 80 in. above the floor, ADA 307.2 limits projection to 4 in., so plan its location with the 5 3/4 in. shelf width in mind.
