Bobrick Keys: The CAT-74 Key, the BobKey, the Coin Box Key, and How to Order a Replacement
Which Bobrick key opens which dispenser, how to order a replacement from Bobrick or through our quote form, and how the CAT-74 key and the BobKey are used.
You have a Bobrick towel cabinet, soap dispenser, or napkin vendor and no key. Most Bobrick and Gamco keyed accessories open with one universal key, the CAT-74, Bobrick part 330-43. Tank soap dispenser filler tops and theft-resistant toilet tissue spindles use the BobKey, part 24-17, and a vendor's coin box has its own key, 352-112. Everything below comes from Bobrick's replacement parts page, its CSD-1 Locks & Keys document, and its installation sheets.
Which Bobrick key you need
Bobrick's page: "Most Bobrick and GAMCO keyed accessories utilize the universal CAT-74 Door Key, part number 330-43." CSD-1 states the rule from the lock side: "All models keyed alike with Bobrick CAT-74 Key, P/N 330-43, except for security, vendor coin boxes have Key P/N 352-112."
| Part number | Bobrick's name | What it opens or does | Products |
|---|---|---|---|
| 330-43 | CAT-74 Door Key | The tumbler lock on a cabinet door: towel and tissue cabinets, recessed soap dispensers, seat cover dispensers, disposals, vendor doors | Most Bobrick and Gamco keyed accessories, including our B-262 ($64.17), B-3588 ($205.97), B-35883 ($145.42), and B-359033 ($394.85), each "keyed like other Bobrick washroom accessories" |
| 24-17 | BobKey | Slides the latch on a tank soap dispenser's filler top, releases a theft-resistant tissue spindle, and its end clears a clogged spout | The B-4112 ($86.42) and 818615 ($115.92) soap dispensers, holders with the theft-resistant spindle, and the B-830 SureFlo cabinet, which ships one |
| 352-112 | Key for Coin Box | The coin box inside 25 cent and 50 cent vendors, keyed separately from the door so a custodian can restock without cash access | Coin-operated B-2706, B-3706, B-37063, B-370634, and B-4706 vendors, such as the B-3706 25 ($753.19) |
| 352-122 | CAT-118 Key | Locks ordered with Bobrick's added-security option, which the CAT-74 does not turn | Vendors with the 3706-175 security door lock instead of the standard 383257, and the other security locks in CSD-1 |
| 492-KIT | Koala Key Kit | The Koala Kare KB200 and KB200-SS changing stations, which take the same CAT-74 key | Ordered from Koala. We list other Koala Kare stations, not the KB200 |
CSD-1 adds that one lock serves the variations of a basic cabinet (skirts, suffix options, soap valves, finish) and that matte black models carry their own .MBLK lock numbers, so a replacement lock, unlike a key, is ordered by exact model.
Identify the key and the dispenser
Bobrick identifies keys by CAT number, and a key that opens every Bobrick door in the building except the vendor coin box is the CAT-74 doing what it should, because the coin box is keyed differently on purpose. If a CAT-74 turns nothing on a whole job, ask whether it was ordered with the security option; CSD-1 gives the 352-122 for those locks.
The model number matters more than the key, because CSD-1 is organized by model. If nobody wrote it down, Bobrick's page gives three routes: "Browse our products to identify the product you have installed", "Contact your aftermarket representative, or the distributor through which you ordered your product or you currently purchase consumables", or "Contact Bobrick to speak with a customer service representative who can help identify your product." The original submittal, or our product page for the unit, is a fourth: both carry the model number.
How to order a replacement key
Bobrick's instruction, quoted from its page: "To order replacement keys, please contact your aftermarket representative or the distributor through which you purchase consumables such as soap or paper towels. For more information, please reference Customer Service Document CSD-1 Locks & Keys."
We do not list keys as products today, but we can quote the 330-43, 24-17, or 352-112 with an accessory order. Request a quote with the model number, the key part number, the quantity, and whether the locks are standard or the CAT-118 option.
Gamco has the same answer. Gamco describes itself as "a division of Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc.", and Bobrick's page covers "Most Bobrick and GAMCO keyed accessories" with the 330-43. Our listings agree: the Gamco ND-5 napkin disposal ($127.28) has a tumbler lock "keyed like other Gamco restroom accessories" and is emptied by "opening door with furnished key". Start from the Gamco brand page.
How to use the CAT-74 key on a cabinet
These steps follow Bobrick's B-306 recessed soap dispenser sheet and its B-2860 roll towel sheet; a towel or tissue cabinet door works the same way.
- Unlock the door with the key and pull it toward you: "Unlock unit with key provided and pull toward you to open the door."
- Refill from the front. On the B-306, fill "to desired level with commercially marketed all-purpose hand soaps." On the roll towel cabinet, "Fill the roll paper towel module per the instructions on the inside of the door."
- "Close door and lock in place with key provided."
A vendor has two door locks keyed to the CAT-74 and a coin box behind them. Bobrick's B-2706 and B-3706 maintenance sheet: "Unlock coin box lock with key provided and pull forward to remove. Empty coin box then reinsert coin box ensuring rectangular feet are fully inserted into coin box bracket mounting slots", then "Lock coin box into place."
How to use the BobKey on a tank soap dispenser
These steps follow Bobrick's B-4112 sheet, which the 818615 sheet matches step for step.
- Open the filler top by "inserting BobKey (24-17) into slot of filler-top and then sliding latch to the left. Lift up filler-top."
- Fill. "To Prevent corrosion, use only chloride-free pH-neutral liquid soaps." Bobrick's dispensers "are not designed to dispense alcohol-based hand sanitizers or iodine-based surgical soaps."
- "Close filler-top and relock by inserting BobKey into filler-top slot and sliding latch to the right."
- If the valve will not dispense, the sheet blames "dried soap or dirt clogging the spout or the soap valve": "Clean spout with end of BobKey" or flush the dispenser with warm soapy water. "Do not disassemble the soap valve"; on these two models a dead valve is replaced with kit 4112-79.
On tissue dispensers the BobKey has one job. Bobrick's spindle guide, CSD-06176, describes the theft-resistant spindle as "available as an option for Bobrick surface-mounted and recessed toilet paper holders; removable with special key furnished; prevents theft. (includes BobKey)". A cabinet-style tissue dispenser such as the B-3588, B-35883, or B-3888 opens with the CAT-74 door key and takes its rolls through the door; an open holder with the theft-resistant spindle needs the BobKey to release the spindle before the roll can be changed.
When to stop and order parts
- The key is lost. Order the 330-43, 24-17, or 352-112 through the routes above. Do not force the door; the lock, the door, and the finish all cost more than the key.
- The key turns but the door will not release, or the cylinder spins. The lock has failed. CSD-1 gives the lock and key assembly for each model (388-42 for the B-3588 and B-35883), and the vendor sheet fits a new door lock from inside the open door. A lock that has failed shut is a job for Bobrick customer service or a locksmith.
- Staff would rather not manage keys. The B-2620 ($66.24) is the knob-latch version of the B-262 towel dispenser, and CSD-1 lists knob latch parts for several cabinets.
ASI, Bradley, and other brands
Bobrick's page covers Bobrick, Gamco, and the Koala KB200 only. ASI and Bradley cabinets carry their own tumbler locks and are keyed to their own systems, so a replacement comes from that manufacturer or its distributor; Bradley's Elvari line closes with a magnetic BradLock and has no keyhole. Our Bobrick vs ASI vs Bradley comparison covers how the lines differ.
Next steps
Put the key on the same order as the accessory. Browse paper towel dispensers, toilet tissue dispensers, soap dispensers, and napkin and tampon vendors, or start from the Bobrick brand page, then request a quote with the key part numbers and quantities. Custodial teams setting a refill routine will also want the janitorial program checklist.
