Gamco Security Restroom Accessories

Security restroom accessories serve rooms where a fixture must not become a hazard: correctional facilities, police holding, courthouses, and behavioral health units. The Gamco security range is stainless steel and centers on the MSA-14 maximum security grab bar, offered in 18, 30, 36, and 42 in. lengths. The MSA-5 is a surface-mounted maximum security soap dish, and it is front mounted. Detention architects and facility managers check each item against the security specification before ordering.

Pick grab bar lengths from the compartment drawing. ADA Section 604.5.1 sets a 42 in. minimum for the side wall bar in an accessible toilet compartment. The MSA-14-42 is 42 in. long. Mount the top of the gripping surface 33 to 36 in. above the floor, per Section 609.4. Keep the gap between bar and wall at 1-1/2 in., as Section 609.3 requires. Holding cells can differ. ADA Section 604.5 does not require grab bars in detention or correction housing or holding cells specially designed without protrusions for suicide prevention.
