Bobrick Security Restroom Accessories

Bobrick security restroom accessories are ligature resistant fittings for behavioral health bathrooms, holding areas, and other restrooms where a fixture must not become a tie-off point. The satin finish stainless steel B-983 clothes hook and B-985 hook strip with 4 hooks are vandal resistant as well. The rest of the range is white powder-coated: the B-9884 auto-release clothes or towel hook, a vertical bay paper towel holder, a semi-recessed toilet paper holder, and the B-9883 recessed shelf. Mounting is surface, semi-recessed, or recessed depending on the item. Behavioral health designers, correctional planners, and hospital facilities teams specify these accessories where the security section of a spec calls for anti-ligature hardware.

Pick each item by how it handles load and where it mounts. A ligature resistant hook such as the B-9884 releases under load, so nothing can be tied off and hold weight. A recessed unit such as the B-9883 shelf keeps the body of the fitting inside the wall, leaving less to tie to. Bobrick lists this range as ADA compliant, and the room still has to follow the same rules as any accessible restroom. Under ADA Section 604.3.2, coat hooks, shelves, and dispensers may overlap the water closet clearance, but no other fixtures or obstructions may sit inside it. Section 308.2.1 puts an unobstructed high forward reach at 48 in. maximum and the low forward reach at 15 in. minimum above the finish floor. Section 309.4 requires operable parts to work with one hand and no more than 5 pounds of force.
