Bobrick B-5806 x 42

Sized for the side wall of an accessible toilet compartment, the Bobrick B-5806 x 42 is a 42 in. (1065 mm) straight grab bar in satin finish stainless steel with 1-1/4 in. (32 mm) tubing. Bobrick rates it ADA compliant and lists it for bath, shower, and toilet compartment use.

The satin finish is slip resistant as furnished, so a bare hand holds even when the bar is wet. Snap flange mounting puts the screws under a cover that snaps onto the flange after the bar is fastened, leaving a smooth flange face. For showers or where a rougher grip is wanted, Bobrick makes the same bar with a peened surface.

ADA 604.5.1 calls for a side wall bar of at least 42 in., starting no more than 12 in. from the rear wall and reaching at least 54 in. from it, which is what this length is for. The bar's 1-1/4 in. diameter meets ADA 609.2. ADA 609.4 sets the top of the gripping surface 33 to 36 in. above the floor, and ADA 609.8 requires the installed bar to withstand a 250 lb load.
