Koala Kare Baby Changing Stations

Koala Kare baby changing stations come in horizontal, vertical, and oval formats. Most of the range is polypropylene, and the lineup also includes rotationally molded LDPE and stainless steel stations. The KB300 horizontal and KB301 vertical stations are surface-mounted in beige, grey, or white granite. Oval stations come in grey or matte black, with the matte black version listed as vandal resistant. Stainless steel stations come surface-mounted in stainless or matte black, or recessed in matte black. Child protection seats round out the range in cream, grey, and matte black. Designers specify these stations for new commercial restrooms, where many state and local codes now require one.

Wall construction settles the recessed or surface question. The recessed KB310-SSRE-MBLK needs a framed wall cavity, while surface-mounted stations need blocking in the wall behind them. Matte black lets a station match other matte black accessories in the room. If a station goes inside a toilet compartment, it cannot obstruct the wheelchair space. ADA Section 604.8.1.1 sets that space at 60 in. wide minimum. Depth is 56 in. minimum with a wall hung water closet, or 59 in. with a floor mounted one.
