ASI Baby Changing Stations

ASI baby changing stations come in horizontal and vertical layouts, in plastic, stainless steel, or both. Surface-mounted horizontal units such as the 9012 and 9014 are plastic. The 9018 recesses a horizontal station behind an 18 gauge type 304 stainless steel door and collar, and the 9018-9 is its surface-mounted version. On the vertical side, the 9015 is plastic with a pull handle and damped gas spring. The 9017 is stainless steel, recessed or surface mounted. For matte black restrooms, the 9024-41 pairs matte black with satin, and the 9026-41 is matte black throughout. The 9020 toddler safety seat completes the family.

Settle recessed or surface mounting before the walls are framed. A recessed unit like the 9013, a heavy-duty welded stainless steel station, needs a framed opening. Most stations also need structural wall blocking, and partition panels typically cannot carry the dynamic load of a station in use. The top of the platform is typically set 28 to 32 in. above the floor. Folded against a wall in a circulation path, a surface-mounted station should project 4 in. or less. ADA 307.2 sets that limit for objects more than 27 in. and not more than 80 in. up. ADA compliant listings cover most of the ASI stations.
