Bradley 8372-101000

The Bradley 8372-101000 is a 29 in. swing up grab bar from the 837 Series, finished in peened Safety Grip stainless steel. It has a 1-1/4 in. outside diameter, 18 gauge stainless steel construction, and exposed mounting on a surface-mounted plate. A swing up bar is the answer for ambulatory stalls, patient rooms, and shared restrooms where the bar must fold out of the way for a transfer.

Exposed mounting puts the fasteners through a visible flange, which is the practical choice for retrofit work where the wall backing is uncertain and the installer needs to see and reach every anchor. The peened texture gives a sure grip when the user is pulling up with wet or weak hands. Bradley builds the 837 Series from heavy-duty satin finish stainless steel, so the bar holds up to daily disinfecting.

Bradley rates the 837 Series to support up to 250 lb and states that properly mounted bars meet ANSI A117.1, ADAAG, and UFAS. The 1-1/4 in. diameter satisfies ADA 609.2, and the bar must be anchored into solid blocking to meet the 250 lb load in ADA 609.8, which matters even more on a hinged bar.
