Bradley Grab Bars

Bradley grab bars on this page are stainless steel, and many are listed with concealed mounting. The 8120 is a straight bar with a 1-1/2 in. outside diameter in satin finish, listed from 12 to 48 in. long. The 8320 brings a 1-1/4 in. diameter in 18 to 48 in. lengths. For wet areas, the 8122 adds a peened safety grip, and a 1-1/4 in. peened version is also listed. Two-wall bars come in 36 x 54 in. and 42 x 54 in., and multi packs are listed too. The Elvari oval bar, 8B1-0011800, uses flangeless concealed mounting with optional hooks. Specifiers put these bars on accessory schedules for accessible toilet compartments and showers.

Diameter is the first check. ADA Section 609.2.1 allows a circular gripping surface from 1-1/4 to 2 in., and both Bradley diameters fall within that span. Height and spacing govern the installation. Section 609.4 puts the top of the gripping surface 33 to 36 in. above the finish floor. Section 609.3 requires 1-1/2 in. between bar and wall. Under Section 609.8, allowable stresses must not be exceeded when a 250-pound force is applied at any point on the bar, fastener, or supporting structure.
